Professional Proofreading

A final, surface-level review to catch lingering typos, punctuation slips, and minor inconsistencies—so your polished story is ready for publication.

🎉 NaNoWriMo & Novel November Special
My editorial rates are deeply lowered to support authors during NaNoWriMo and Novel November, helping you finish, revise, and polish your story with professional guidance. Rates may increase throughout November depending on interest and availability, so booking early (pre-November) is the best way to lock in this special pricing before spots fill.

💰 $0.004 USD per word
🧾 Minimum Project Fee: $150 USD

📌 For manuscripts that have already been professionally copyedited (or carefully self-edited) and are ready for a final polish before publication or submission.

💬 Not sure if this is the right service for you? Let’s talk about where you are in your process, and I’ll help you find your best next step.

✨ What Is This?

Proofreading is the final review of your manuscript—the quality check before it goes out into the world. This service focuses on surface-level accuracy, correcting small errors that may have slipped through previous edits.

I’ll carefully review your text for typos, punctuation mistakes, and minor inconsistencies in grammar, spelling, or chapter sequencing. You’ll receive your file back with all corrections made using Track Changes, so you can easily review and approve each fix.

Think of proofreading as your manuscript’s final polish—not a substitute for professional line editing or copyediting, but the step that makes sure everything shines.

📌 Who This Is For

  • Authors whose manuscripts have already been professionally copyedited
  • Writers who’ve completed multiple rounds of careful self-editing and want a final surface check
  • Indie authors preparing to publish or format their manuscript
  • Anyone who wants a clean, polished final draft ready for readers or layout

If your manuscript has not yet been copyedited and still contains frequent grammar or punctuation issues, a Copyedit (or even a Line Edit) will likely serve you better.

🧾 What You’ll Provide

  • Your completed, revised manuscript in .docx format
  • Confirmation that your manuscript has been professionally edited or thoroughly self-reviewed for errors

📘 What You’ll Get

  • One careful pass with Track Changes, correcting:
    • Typos, misspellings, and incorrect word forms
    • Punctuation errors (commas, quotation marks, apostrophes, etc.)
    • Minor grammar issues that escaped prior editing
    • Simple formatting consistency (like chapter numbering and spacing consistency)
  • Margin comments (used sparingly) for:
    • Possible missing or repeated words
    • Inconsistencies that may require your decision
    • Ambiguous corrections that depend on author intent

📎 Please note: I review Word documents, not formatted proof copies.
This service does not include layout review, typesetting, formatting design, or visual proofreading. If you would like for me to receive and read an actual physical proof copy of your book, please contact me and specify.

🧩 What This Service Covers

  • Typographical and spelling errors
  • Minor punctuation corrections
  • Inconsistent capitalization or small formatting errors (within text only)
  • Repeated or missing words
  • Chapter or numbering discrepancies
  • Final consistency check for mechanical details

This service does not include: line or copyediting, structural or stylistic changes, major grammar rewrites, layout or typesetting review, or full reformatting of your document.
A proofread is meant to catch what earlier editing stages missed—it will not fix deeper mechanical or stylistic issues.

If your manuscript contains frequent grammatical or stylistic problems, I may recommend upgrading to a Copyedit or Line Edit instead. Otherwise, issues will remain after a proofread.

🔍 Genre & Content Guidelines

This service is available for all fiction genres, including romance, mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, and women’s fiction. No matter your genre, I’m happy to help.

🗽 Language Note:
At this time, I primarily work with manuscripts written in US English for spelling and punctuation. If your manuscript follows another English convention (UK, Canadian, etc.), please contact me before booking—exceptions can sometimes be made.

I do not accept manuscripts that include rape as an active plot element. If it occurred off-page before the story and is only referenced, we can discuss comfort levels beforehand. For dark or taboo works, please include trigger warnings so I can ensure it’s a good fit before booking.

🛠️ Why Work With Me?

As a published author and editor, I understand the importance of the final details. Proofreading is the stage where the most minor errors can distract readers or undermine an otherwise strong story. I’ll approach your manuscript with care and precision, ensuring every page reads cleanly and confidently, while respecting your voice and the work already done in prior edits.
