My editorial rates are deeply lowered to support authors during NaNoWriMo and Novel November, helping you finish, revise, and polish your story with professional guidance. Get advanced, big-picture feedback on your manuscript from a published author who understands how to craft stories that resonate with readers. While this service is tailored with romance in mind—focusing on emotional impact, pacing, and genre expectations—I happily work with authors across all fiction genres. Whether you’re writing fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, horror, women’s fiction, or beyond, we can make adjustments as needed to ensure the feedback aligns with your genre, goals, and storytelling style. This service is intended for completed, self-edited manuscripts and offers deep insight into your story’s effectiveness from both a reader’s and writer’s perspective.
📌 For manuscripts that have been revised and self-edited—best used after a manuscript evaluation and before developmental editing. (Sometimes this may be swapped to come before a manuscript evaluation.) Not meant for first drafts. (But I have two excellent services for that—just ask!)
💬 Not sure if this is the right service for you? Let’s talk about where you are in your process. I’ll help you find your best next step.
💬 What Other Authors Are Saying
“I’ve worked with beta readers before, but Natasha’s service is in a completely different league. As a romance author, I appreciated how deeply she understood the emotional beats and what readers expect from the genre, which is something a lot of readers and even editors miss. But it wasn’t just about romance. Her report was structured, specific, and actionable in a way I’ve never experienced. It felt like working with someone who understood both my story and my goals as a writer.”
—C.M., Romance Author
“After being burned by casual beta readers who only offered vague compliments, I was starting to think beta feedback just wasn’t useful. A friend recommended paid beta readers, and I was hesitant. Then I found Natasha’s site and saw exactly what her report included, which let me know exactly what to expect. Her insights helped me understand what was working, what wasn’t landing, and where a reader might lose interest. I got so much out of it that I immediately booked a developmental edit with her, too.”
—Tahlia
“This was my first finished manuscript, and I had no idea if it was actually good. Natasha’s feedback made me feel seen, not just as a writer, but as someone learning and growing. Her notes were honest, kind, and deeply motivating. Even as a fantasy author, I felt like she truly understood the arc I was going for. Her report gave me clarity, confidence, and a clear next step forward.”
—Stephen, First-Time Author
✨ Genre-Friendly Feedback for Every Story
While this service is optimized for romance, I welcome manuscripts in all genres of fiction—mystery, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, women’s fiction, historical, and more. If your book isn’t a romance, we’ll chat about adjustments to make this service an excellent fit for your genre and goals.
💡 What is a Professional Beta Reader?
Unlike casual beta readers, this service goes far beyond “I liked it!” feedback. I evaluate your manuscript through the lens of a reader and a writer—focusing on emotional engagement, plot cohesion, character dynamics, pacing, and whether the story delivers on its promises.
You’ll receive a detailed report covering 81 key questions, plus answers to your custom story-specific concerns. This allows you to get inside the depths of a reader’s mind for valuable feedback.
📘 What You’ll Receive:
- A comprehensive written report answering 81 in-depth questions across story, character, pacing, romance, dialogue, world-building, tone, and more (see full list below).
- 1 custom question per every 2,500 words—tailored to your manuscript’s unique needs. (Because when you have specific questions, you need specific answers!)
- Honest, kind, and actionable feedback from a fellow romance author and reader.
- A “Reader Rating (As-Is)” that reflects how I would personally rate your book if it were published today.
- A minimum project fee ensures that even shorter manuscripts receive the full depth of professional feedback.
💡 For example, if your manuscript is 50,000 words, the total cost would be $200, and you’d be able to submit 20 custom questions in addition to the full 81-question report.

🔍 Genre & Content Guidelines
This service is designed for romance novels—any heat level or subgenre—but I also welcome non-romance genres of fiction. If your manuscript isn’t romance, please reach out so we can discuss how the beta reader report can best serve your story. I do not accept manuscripts that include rape as an active plot element. I’m happy to discuss comfort levels in advance if they occurred off-page before the story and are only referenced.
For dark or taboo romance, please include trigger warnings so I can ensure it’s a good fit before accepting the project.
🕒 Turnaround Time
Turnaround varies depending on word count and my current schedule. Reports may be returned in as little as one week, or take several weeks for longer works.
💬 Have a timeline in mind? Reach out! I’ll let you know if I can accommodate it.
🛠️ Why Work With Me?
As a published romance author, I know what readers expect—and what makes a love story (or any story) unforgettable. I combine professional craft insight with reader response perspective to help you refine, elevate, and polish your manuscript without sacrificing your voice.
I’ve been told this service feels like a hybrid between a reader response report and developmental-level story feedback—a deep dive that goes far beyond “liked it/didn’t like it” reactions. It blends emotional insight with craft-based analysis, offering authors a clear picture of how their story lands before they commit to developmental editing or publishing.
